I felt his immense heart most clearly when he was singing and playing his guitar. After his passing, I came to realize that our strongest bond was through music. My father often shared with me interviews with John Prine and YouTube videos of Willie Nelson and other country legends whose songwriting moved him deeply. When I visited him in Virginia, he would proudly invite me to perform in his Bluegrass circles, beaming when I sang. It wasn’t until after he passed that I fully understood the profound connection we shared through music—a bond that spoke louder than words ever could.
